To satisfy the customary introduction post, Player 1 Blue (“P1 Blue”) is a blog about gaming. Mostly video games and the surrounding culture, but we sometimes dip into tabletop gaming and other related activities.

We plan to write mostly about what we’ve been playing which is usually a healthy variety of games. You’ll likely see some genres and titles favored more than others though. To give you an idea of what to expect, here’s a quick list of what we find ourselves returning to:

• Cooperative, objective-based (Halo Infinite Big Team Battle, Payday 2, Phasmophobia, PlateUp!)
• Survival/crafting RPG (7 Days to Die, Valheim)
• MMORPG (Final Fantasy XIV, New World)
• MOBA (League of Legends)

That list isn’t exhaustive and we make a point to find new games that to play. We also play single-player titles, many of which will be from similar genres.

So what does “Player 1 Blue” mean? In all honesty, it’s becoming difficult to find unique and memorable names. We wanted to try to find something other than “insert-thing-here Gaming” — we already have a social gaming group “Stuck with Us Gaming” that you’ll likely see referenced here and there.

There is a component of breaking standards. At the height of couch co-op games, player one was usually the color red. So in a way it’s a simple representation setting us apart. But more than anything blue is simply my (Adam’s) favorite color and currently I’m doing most of the writing.

So now you have a taste of the “faux profundity” you can expect here (I had to Google that phrase). To keep it simple: if you enjoy video games we think you’ll find something that you can relate to.
